Seeks is a huge part of my art account from being the first Splatoon character I ever created, to having my handle partially named after him (JellySeeks). I use Seeks to represent me and the face of my art journey but who is he really as an OC? Well… a few words could certainly be used to describe this ill-mouthed punk. Seeks is my grumpy octoling who tends to veer a little on the pessimistic side of life; he’s a truly ambitious individual
and will get stuff done but not before extensively complaining about it first! His harder shell melts away in the face of his close friends though, who know him as a softie (just not to hug because ouch! Those metal spikes on his jacket hurt!)

Personality
Seeks is an outgoing individual who doesn’t like to sit still; he tends to plan out his days in advance to ensure that his thumbs aren’t being fiddled and instead, are wrapped around a guitar, a basketball or even a katana! Seeks is a trained swordsman whose mastery rivals that of his childhood friends who also trained in kenjutsu from a young age. Overall, he loves to work out and uses it as a vent from everyday stress which as a result, has led him to get toned muscles of steel much unlike his slender partner.
However, Seeks’ ambition to prove that he is the best in whatever he’s doing extends far beyond exercising; he has an aptitude for putting 101% into everything he does which can be an exhausting task for the octoling when ensuring the happiness of all his friends. Despite outsiders perceiving Seeks as an aggressive individual, he acts as a pillar in his friendship groups offering support at any hour of the day. His compassion does tend to lax in the company of those he dislikes though and has even been known to actively provoke and prod at those he isn’t on friendly terms with.
There are sides to Seeks that most won’t see surface; namely the ones involving never ending cuddles with his pet catfish and a plethora of thought-out dates with his partner- Sev. Overall, Seeks comes across as intimidating to most but just as an egg has a goey centre, inside he is an eggscellent friend (Did I say he was great with puns too?).

Relationships
Despite Seek’s overall demeanor and attitude to the world, he managed to amass friendship groups with a variety of individuals. These range from childhood friends to an overly hyper glowing squid- one that just so happens to be his partner. Alas, there are some relationships that haven’t been so friendly, so just who are these characters?
Sev
Sev and Seeks met under circumstances not many would consider a great first date; that is unless you enjoyed risking life and limb to an evil entity you had never seen. This iconic duo are the primary face of JellySeeks and the main characters of a story not yet told. Aside from their rocky start, the two live together high above the cityscape of Inkopolis with palms interlocked (except when Sevs are wrapped around a game controller). Their relationship defined slow-burn but never say never when a certain party game goes a little south then super duperly ever so north! Who knew that 7 minutes in heaven with another man would give him the confidence to ask the constantly pining inkling out? Interested in learning more about Sev? Defining the relationship between Spark and Seeks is like comparing them to chalk and cheese because whilst yes, both their names begin with ‘S’, everything after that differs to extremes… Or at least Seeks thinks so. Ever since meeting Spark, Seeks has been inundated with such hatred towards the octoling that I struggle to put it into words. Why? Well, that’s the question- Spark hasn’t done much in the way of Seeks apart from contrast in moral codes, but if there’s one thing I do know about him, it’s that he is incredibly irritable when faced with someone who potentially excels at the qualities he favours about himself (particularly in the height and wealth department). As a result, his jealously seemed to expand at an

overgrowing rate. It also didn’t help that for the longest time, Seeks presumed that his now-partner had a crush on Spark when he’d describe his ideal man as ‘tall, handsome and rich’ completely forgetting that he himself had those attributes too. Eventually, when that false theory was dispelled, so did some of Seeks’ anger towards the octoling but with Seeks being as stubborn as he is, he’s frequently caught butting heads with him. Pipit
Pipit is one of 4 childhood friends Seeks had whilst growing up. He is a straightforward and earnest octoling who excels in academia and combat training. He has strong ambitions to be the best in his abilities which occasionally made him and Seeks fall out during their youth as a lot of their kenjutsu training would end in a very near win or an eventual tie. Nevertheless, Seeks has a lot of respect for Pipit for when he went MIA, Pipit took up a lot of the slack in his village and was responsible for the community. He can be dense socially and misunderstand sarcasm in everyday conversation but is dedicated to the wellbeing of himself and those around him (in particular- the other friends he grew up with).
Flame is another one of Seeks’ childhood friends. Skilled in the ways of basketball and useless with combat training, Flame is a gullible and occasionally clueless character that is often the victim of Seeks’ teasing. He has an aptitude for basketball and is found playing it with Seeks or his team when given spare time. Being both hotheaded in his hair and in personality, bickers can break out between the duo but their relationship is solidified in steel.

He has an aptitude for basketball and is found playing it with Seeks or his team when given spare time. Scathe
Scathe too is part of Seeks’ childhood friend group. She keeps to herself, only opting to speak when necessary or rebutting a point, yet still had a vivid ambition to overtake Seeks in combat when they were children. Often, Seeks was pushed to the floor with a training-tana to his neck concluding their fight; Scathe possesses incredible strength despite her petite stature. Both her personality and adoration for gothic/darker fashion caught the eyes of both Flame and Seeks during their childhood but their dreams were quickly punched, blended and tossed off a cliff- she had zero interest in the boys. Respecting her wishes, they remained friends even to this day and still love to spar.
Bunnie
Bunnie is the last member of his friendship group. Unlike the rest of his friends, Bunnie was disinterested in combat and therefore discontinued her katana training to live a calmer life surrounded by the nature of the village and art. She can usually be found painting by riverbanks or watching her friends spar at the dojo, always giving extra praise to Scathe who eventually became her partner. As their friendship grew, as did her voice and she can usually be the loudest member in the group when the squad meets up. Seeks, whilst initially befuddled at the idea that someone wouldn’t want to fight, respects her values and enjoys discussing arts and media she’s interested in.

Design Aspects
☆ Has a lot of upper body muscle from working out in the gym.
☆ Skin is tan with a few scars scattered on his body from sparring.
☆ Tentacles consist of 4 slightly curled tentacles that are sideswept on the right side of his face and 1 bun at the back of his head. The 3 closest sideswept tentacles have ringed piercings on each tentacle with the closest having 3, the 2nd closest having 2 and the last of the 3 having 1 piercing. The bun has two labrets at the tip of the tentacle. They’re all magenta and fade into a purple hue.
☆ Has 9 facial and ear piercings in total: 1 stud in each of his ears which look like 8-balls as well as 1 gauge in both, snakebite studs in his lips, a tongue piercing and two rings in his left eyebrow.
☆ Has 1 flick on each of his eye masks and will tend to wear black eyeshadow. He has purple eyes.
☆ Fishnet top is optional but it extends from his neck to his fingers.
☆ Likely to be wearing a vest over a t-shirt but anything goes. These may have graphic designs on them from bands or media he likes.
☆ May be wearing his leather jacket which is jet black with 2 spikes on each shoulder. The design on the back depicts a snake wrapping around an 8 ball and a skull.
☆ No definitive shoe design but anything laced, big heeled and black is ideal. I tend to draw him with spiked toe cap boots.
☆ Always wears belts with a chain hanging from one side.
☆ Wears greywash/black jeans that have flecks of white on the knees. Knee areas are ripped with surrounding holes nearby. Underneath jeans are short fishnet sleeves that he has around his knees to appear as if he’s wearing full fishnet tights.
☆ Nails are usually painted and will have several rings on random fingers.
